Bug List

1. Bike lanes on the street
Bikers biking where cars are going at high speeds is incredibly dangerous and always causes traffic because cars must move into the next lane in order to not risk hitting the person.

2. Wireless printers that you have to plug in in order to print
If it is WIRELESS why do I need a WIRE to print? This would just make it a normal printer.

3. AP college credits from high school that don't transfer to your college or university
If they are offered as college credits, they should be treated as them. I am a transfer student and a handle of my high school AP credits didn't transfer to my pervious college for no particular reason.

4. High schools with swimming teams that don't have a pool
A high school some of my friends went to in Miami had a swim team but the school had no pool and no intentions of building one.

5. Apple can invent a touch screen phone and incredibly elaborate features but they cannot invent a charger that doesn't break every 4 months.
This could be due to the fact that they make profits off of people constantly buying new chargers.

6. Inadequate parking for apartments
Apartment buildings often only half enough parking for half of their residents which forces people into buying parking spots monthly at ridiculously high rates.

7. Security checks that don't really check your bags or belongings, therefore, are useless.
The security check at Magic Kingdom Disney World, in particularly, is bad. They just peek into your bag, they do not even check to make sure you don't have anything in the pockets or inside the items in the bag. They also do not have metal detectors.

8. Caffeinated coffee that doesn't give you energy
If coffee is primarily for energy, I do not see the use in it not serving its purpose.

9. Classes that are required for your major but have nothing to do with your major
If the entire point of a university is to perfect your knowledge in your field of study, why are students required to take classes that will not benefit them toward that goal? I understand that students must be well-rounded, but some of the course are about things no student bothers to remember once the semester is over.

10. Teachers that do not properly set up Canvas to show students their actual grade
If Canvas' purpose is to show students their grades, teachers should accurately set it up to do so. That way, students do not have to be constantly harassing their professors for their grades and do not waste time that could be spent learning.

11. Narrow two-way streets that realistically only fit one car at a time
Not only is this unsafe, it also causes traffic.

12. Fast food restaurants that claim they are 24 hours but only serve a small variety of foods at certain times or do not accept credit cards after a certain time
Restaurants should disclaim that their menu changes after a certain hour if that is the case. Also, restaurants who do not accept credit/debit cards after a certain time are losing business.

13. Restaurants or store that know their most popular days and hours of business, yet are always understaffed at that time.
This can create issues for customers who need customer service and may not receive it because the few employees that are on the job are doing other things.

14. "Travel sized" items that are over the fluid limit permitted on a plane.
If it is "travel sized" but I cannot travel with it, then it is not travel sized.

15. Salads that have more calories than a hamburger
If a "healthy" food is more fattening than a fattening food, it really is not healthy.

16. Soap that makes you smell worse
Often, scented soaps and deodorants are said to make people smell more than unscented ones.

17. Detergent that stains your clothes
If detergent is meant to remove stains from clothing, why do some stain my clothes with their coloring? This makes the detergent ineffective.

18. Drinks that make you more thirsty
Sodas are often create to make consumers more thirsty so they drink more of it.

19. Makeup that claims to be "oil control", yet oil is a prime ingredient
If there is oil in the product, then it is not "oil control."

20. Stores that put clothes they want you to buy too high up where customers cannot grab them.
I often want to purchase items, but they are located too high up on the walls, discouraging me from buying them.

Writing my "Bug List" was certainly more difficult than anticipated. This is because these are situations in which you realize how much they "bug" you only once it happens to you. These situations or products are all either inefficient or ineffective.

  1. Hey Nicole great job on your bug list. I like that you put everyday tasks because it makes it more relatable, at least I was able to agree with a lot of them. Next time, I would suggest try to elaborate a little more! :) overall great job I really enjoyed your bugs because I think they were the most creative I read.

  2. Hey Nicole, amazing job on your bug list. I get a sense that a lot of your bugs stem from inefficiency in products. Essentially products that do not fulfill their what they were meant to is a problem. In Entrepreneurship there is a focus on value which I feel is great that you seem to take a notice in and can then help you become a great entrepreneur. I can relate to these things because as a guy facial hair, and deodorant is an issue that many things in the male market do not do a great job fulfilling value or promise. I feel that an advice I can give you is I guess use your negatives into a positive your entrepreneur success can really launch of from that. Otherwise I do invite you to read my blog, you might enjoy it. Best of luck on your entrepreneurship success.
